The Reverend Shelton T. Miles is the youngest son of the late Herman and the late Mamie B. Miles. He joined St. John’s A.M.E. Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, at an early age where he served as pianist for the choirs of St. John AME Church.

He accepted the calling into the ministry in 1981. He was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in 1985, an Itinerant Elder in the Western North Carolina Conference in 1987.  His first pastoral charge was New Harris Grove A.M.E. Church, Rougemont, North Carolina (1985-1989).

His other Pastoral Charges include:

•    Pearson Chapel A.M.E. Church, Yanceyville, NC (1989-1992)

•    Zion Campbell Circuit which included Zion Campbell A.M.E. Church,                        Laurinburg, NC (1992-1995) and St. Joseph's A.M.E. Church, Aberdeen, NC            (1992-1995)

•   Hunter’s Chapel A.M.E. Church, Mebane, North Carolina (1995-2002)

•     Emmanuel A.M.E. Church, Durham, North Carolina (2002-2013)

      Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Hillsborough, North Carolina (2013-2018)

      Presently, St. James A.M.E. Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Rev, Miles is multi-talented.  He sings, composes music and plays the piano.  In 1982 Miles received the Living Legend Music Award.  He has recorded several gospel selections that include: What’s that in your hand? And Teach Us How to Love.

He retired from the State of North Carolina.

He attended and graduated from the public schools of Wake County.

Reverend Miles holds a BA in Religion and Philosophy with a minor in Criminal Justice, from Shaw University and continues to matriculate at Payne Theological Seminary.

Rev. Miles is happily married to Rosazyn Tillman Miles. They have six beautiful children and nine grandchildren.

Reverend Miles is a hard worker who takes God’s work seriously.  He is a caring man who believes in an inclusive ministry.  “Everyone is somebody in God’s Eyes.”
